Sensex down 682pts; HDFC slumps 8%

The Sensex is now down 682 points at 15,689.

The NSE Nifty is down 189 points at 4,753.

HDFC has slumped 7.8% to Rs 2,413, and HDFC Bank has tumbled nearly 7% to Rs 1,305.

ICICI Bank, Infosys and ONGC have plunged around 6.5% each to Rs 780, Rs 1,425 and Rs 985, respectively.

Hindalco and TCS have shed 6% each at Rs 165 and Rs 819, respectively. DLF has dropped 5.5% to Rs 658.

SBI has slipped 5% to Rs 1,595. Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Eenrgy and Grasim have declined 4.7% each to Rs 229, Rs 1,271 and Rs 2,578, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Communications are down over 4% each at Rs 3,014 and Rs 515, respectively.

Cipla has moved up 1% to Rs 220.

Out of 2,625 stocks traded so far, 1,362 have advanced, 1,208 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
