Sensex down 70pts; Bharti, Tata Power up 3%

The Sensex after touching a high of 9,836 in opening trades, tumbled into the negative zone to a low of 9,396 - down 440 points. The index is now down 70 points at 9461.

BHEL and Reliance have slumped 4.5% each to Rs 1,277 and Rs 1,110, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra has plunged over 4% to Rs 328.

Wipro has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 238, and Tata Motors has dropped over
3% to Rs 145.

HDFC, Larsen & Toubro, ITC and Infosys have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 1,595, Rs 806, Rs 166 and Rs 1,228, respectively.

Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and ACC are down 1% each at Rs 183, Rs 394 and Rs 456, respectively.

 

Bharti Airtel and Tata Power have surged 3% each to Rs 651 and Rs 753, respectively.

Reliance Communications has gained 2.5% at Rs 221. Ranbaxy and ONGC have moved up 1.8% each to Rs 218 and Rs 724, respectively.

Hindalco has added 1.3% to Rs 57. Reliance Infrastructure and NTPC are up 1% each at Rs 546 and Rs 152, respectively.
