Sensex down 72pts; ICICI Bank down 3%

The Sensex is now down 72 points at 17,775.

HDFC has plunged 4% to Rs 2,489. ICICI Bank has shed 3% at Rs 1,055.

Wipro has slipped over 2% to Rs 461. Infosys and Grasim have dropped 1.3% each to Rs 1,975 and Rs 3,600, respectively.

HDFC Bank, ITC, TCS and Reliance Communications are down over 1% each at Rs 1,406, Rs 185, Rs 1,608 and Rs 636, respectively.

Reliance Energy and BHEL have surged over 2% each to Rs 1,483 and Rs 2,116, respectively.

NTPC and Ranbaxy have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 220 and Rs 445, respectively.

Reliance, Tata Motors, Maruti and Larsen & Toubro are the other prominent gainers.

Out of 2,546 stocks traded so far, 1,501 have declined, 984 have advanced and 61 are unchanged.
