Sensex down 76pts; 82% BSE stocks in red

The Sensex tumbled to a low of 9922 - down 252 points from the day's high of 10,174. The index is now down 76 points at 9966.

The market breadth is extremely negative with nearly 82% of the stocks traded so far on the BSE in red - out of 1,946 stocks traded so far, 1,588 have declined, 321 have advanced and 37 are unchanged.

HDFC, ITC, Reliance and Dr.Reddy's have gained over 1% each to Rs 1,060, Rs 168, Rs 993 and Rs 1,283, respectively.

RCoVL slumped over 4% to Rs 231. Reliance Energy and HDFC Bank have slipped over 3% each to Rs 432 and Rs 737, respectively.

BHEL and Cipla have shed 2.5% each to Rs 1,790 and Rs 212, respectively.
