Sensex down 76pts; HDFC slips 2%

The Sensex is now down 76 points at 14,804.

Reliance Energy has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 594. HDFC has shed 2% to Rs 1,939.

Ranbaxy and Satyam have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 362 and Rs 464, respectively.

Reliance Communications and NTPC have dropped 1.5% each to Rs Rs 534 and Rs 153, respectively.

Cipla, Reliance, Bharti Airtel and ITC are down over 1% each to Rs 216, Rs 1,697, Rs 850 and Rs 156, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has rallied 2% at Rs 2,337. Tata Motors and Tata Steel have surged 1.5% each to Rs 708 and Rs 625, respectively.

ICICI Bank has advanced 1.3% to Rs 998.

Out of 2,528 stocks traded so far, 1,700 have declined, 770 have advanced and 58 are unchanged.
