Sensex down 76pts; Tata Steel up 8%

The Sensex is now down 76 points at 8,664.

Tata Steel has zoomed over 8% to Rs 161. Maruti and SBI have surged over 4% each to Rs 480 and Rs 1,084, respectively.

DLF has rallied 3% to Rs 187. Jaiprkash Assocaites and Reliance Infrastruce have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 59 and Rs 505, respectively.

Sterlite has advanced over 2% to Rs 236. ICICI Bank has moved up 1.8% to Rs 330.

Larsen & Toubro and Tata Motors have added 1.5% each to Rs 689 and Rs 130, respectively.

Wipro has slumped 5% to Rs 221, and Infosys has plunged 4.5% to Rs 1,155.

 

Hindalco has dropped over 3% to Rs 50. Satyam has shed 2.6% at Rs 227.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have slipped 2% each to Rs 657 and Rs 188, respectively.

ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC and ITC are down nearly 2% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 1,966 stocks traded so far, 1,066 have advanced, 830 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
