Sensex down 77pts; tech stocks weak

The Sensex is now down 77 points at 19,324.

Updated at 1450 hrs

The Sensex is now flat at 19,399 - down two points.

Reliance, SBI and BHEL have surged around 4% each to Rs 2,771, Rs 2,302 and Rs 2,830, respectively.

Maruti has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 1,001. Mahindra & Mahindra has gained 2.5% at Rs 760.

Ambuja Cements has advanced 2% to Rs 147, and Larsen & Toubro has added 1.5% to Rs 4,190.

ACC, Cipla and NTPC are up over 1% each at Rs 1,035, Rs 180 and Rs 242, respectively.

Infosys has slumped 5.7% to Rs 1,745. Satyam has plunged nearly 3% to Rs 440, and Wipro has shed 2.3% at Rs 476.

HDFC Bank has tumbled over 4% to Rs 1,635. ICICI Bank has slipped over 2% to Rs 1,214.

Reliance Communications, Dr.Reddy's and Bharti Airtel have dropped nearly 2% each to Rs 731, Rs 602 and Rs 902, respectively.

Out of 2,734 stocks traded so far, 1,583 have declined, 1,076 have advanced and 75 are unchanged.
