The Sensex continues to hover around the day's low, and is now down 78 points at 9766. Tata Motos continues to be the major gainer among the Sensex stocks. The stock is now up 3.2% at Rs 727. NTPC has surged 2.6% to Rs 118, and Tata Power has gained 2.5% at Rs 486. Bharti Tele is up nearly 2% at Rs 371. Grasim has added 1.7% to Rs 1,525. HDFC has dropped 3.4% to Rs 1,315. ONGC has slipped 2.2% to Rs 1,159. ITC has shed 2% to Rs 153. ICICI Bank and HLL are down nearly 1.5% each at Rs 569 and Rs 191, respectively. ACC at Rs 583, Infosys at Rs 2,798 and HDFC Bank at Rs 726 have dropped 1.3% each. Wipro and Larsen & Toubro are down 1% each at Rs 522 and Rs 2,205, respectively. The market breadth is fairly even. Out of 2,490 stocks traded so far, 1,332 have declined, 1,097 have advanced and 61 are unchanged. Gujarat Alkalies tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 93.12 crore followed by Tata Motors (Rs 74.57 crore), Larsen & Toubro (Rs 60.21 crore), Reliance (Rs 53.32 crore) and SBI (Rs 51.90 crore). Gujarat Alkalies leads the volume chart with trades of around 61.03 lakh shares followed by Ashok Leyland (42.82 lakh), Nitin Spinners (38.72 lakh), Rana Sugars (30.04 lakh) and Prism Cements (29.12 lakh). |
