Sensex down 78pts; Ranbaxy soars 7%

The Sensex is now down 78 points at 19,623.

HDFC Bank and DLF have dropped 2.3% each to Rs 1,608 and Rs 1,061, respectively.

Reliance has slipped over 2% to Rs 2,932. BHEL has shed 1.6% at Rs 2,311.

Maruti and NTPC have declined 1.3% each to Rs 856 and Rs 252, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and HDFC have slipped over 1% each to Rs 4,033 and Rs 2,820, respectively.

Wipro, TCS and Cipla are also down 1% each at Rs 456, Rs 913 and Rs 207, respectively.

Ranbaxy has zoomed 6.5% to Rs 392. Bajaj Auto has surged 2.8% to Rs 2,510, and Reliance Energy has rallied 2.3% to Rs 2,264.

ACC and Ambuja Cements have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 872 and Rs 132, respectively. Grasim is also up over 1% at Rs 3,344.

Out of 2,811 stocks traded so far, 1,755 have declined, 1,012 have advanced and 44 are unchanged.
