Sensex down 80pts; HDFC drops 3%

The Sensex has recovered most of its lost ground and is now down 80 points at 10,071.

Maruti has rallied 1.5% to Rs 733. Hero Honda has gained 1% at Rs 760.

Reliance Communications and HDFC have dropped 2.8% each to Rs 222 and Rs 1,060, respectively.

Tata Steel and Wipro have shed 2% each to Rs 508 and Rs 466, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Dr.Reddy's and Satyam are the other prominent losers.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 1,434 stocks traded so far, 1,106 have declined, 305 have advanced and 23 are unchanged.
