Sensex down 81pts; Hindalco drops 3%

The Sensex is now down 81 points at 11,838.

Hindalco has plunged 3% to Rs 178. Tata Steel, Reliance Energy and HLL have dropped 2% each to Rs 515, Rs 479 and Rs 237, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slipped 2% to Rs 835. Tata Motors has shed 1.5% at Rs 884.

Tata Motors, Maruti, Reliance and Grasim are down over 1% each.

Hero Honda has gained 2% at Rs 750. Reliance Communications has moved up 1.5% to Rs 321.

Dr.Reddy's and Satyam are the other notable gainers.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,159 stocks traded so far, 1,064 have declined, 1,033 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
