The Sensex, after yesterday's phenomenal gain, opened up 44 points at 12,202. Soon, however, it slipped into the red and touched a low of 12,048.
It is now down 81 points at 12,077.
BHEL and Wipro have shed 2% each to Rs 1,655 and Rs 368. Infosys, ICICI Bank, Sterlite and HDFC Bank have declined 1.5% each.
Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates, TCS and Tata Motors have also dropped.
However,DLF has surged 4% to Rs 246. ACC and Hindalco have advanced 2% each to Rs 608 and Rs 72, respectively.
