Sensex down 825pts; Tata Steel drops 8%

The Sensex is now down 825 points at 15,303.

The NSE Nifty is down 266 points at 4,606.

DLF, Hindalco and Reliance Energy have slumped over 9% each to Rs 646, Rs 174 and Rs 1,208, respectively.

Tata Steel has plunged 8% to Rs 706, and BHEL has tumbled 7% to Rs 1,875.

Reliance Communications, Wipro and SBI have dropped 6.7% each to Rs 503, Rs 364 and Rs 1,690, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Reliance have shed 5.8% each at Rs 1,289 and Rs 2,239, respectively.

ICICI Bank has declined 5.5% to Rs 831. Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and NTPC are down nearly 5% each to Rs 2,795, Rs 771 and Rs 185, respectively.

Out of 2,665 stocks traded so far, 2,331 have declined, 306 have advanced and 28 are unchanged.
