Sensex down 83pts; Engineers India zooms 7%

Unabated selling in the market has pushed the Sensex further into red. The index is now down 83 points at 9362.

Infosys has slipped deeper into red and is now down 4.7% at Rs 2,834.

While TCS has shed 1.8% to Rs 1,642, Satyam is marginally down at Rs 727.

ONGC has dropped 1.7% to Rs 1,184, and Reliance is down 1.5% at Rs 881.

HDFC and Ranbaxy have declined 2.6% each to Rs 1,189 and Rs 384, respectively.

While SBI has rallied 1.6% to Rs 925, ICICI Bank has slipped 1% to Rs 579.

Maruti has gained over 2% at Rs 665. Tata Motors has moved up 1.4% at Rs 645.

Out of 2,365 stocks traded so far, 1,220 have moved up, 1,075 have slipped and the rest are unchanged.

Engineers India and Alstom Projects have zoomed 7% each to Rs 787 and Rs 246, respectively. Apollo Tyres, Rolta, Hindustan Zinc, Sterlite, Balaji Tele, SKF India, HCL Technologies, Finolex Cables, Escorts, Jaiprakash Associates and i-flex have gained 2-3% each.

iGate Global has slumped nearly 5% to Rs 240. ICI India, GSK Consumers, Apollo Hospitals, BPCL, Crompton Greaves and  Kotak Bank are down 2-3% each.
