Sensex down 83pts; Satyam surges 3%

The Sensex is now down 83 points at 12,845.

HLL, NTPC and HDFC Bank have dropped over 2.5% each to Rs 231, Rs 128 and Rs 1,020, respectively.

Grasim and HDFC have shed 2% each to Rs 2,613 and Rs 1,516, respectively.

Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and TCS have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 2,065, Rs 1,287 and Rs 1,115, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja and Tata Motors have declined over 1% each.

Satyam has surged nearly 3% to Rs 449. BHEL has advanced over 2% to Rs 2,467.

Out of 2,449 stocks traded so far, 1,619 have declined, 771 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
