The Sensex, following weak cues from the global markets, opened flat at 14,043 this morning. The index slipped further into the red and touched a low of 13,928.
The index is now down 85 points at 13,976.
ICICI Bank has slumped 3.5% to Rs 684. Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Larsen & Toubro have shed 3% each at Rs 53, Rs 1,014 and Rs 1,321, respectively.
HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra and HDFC Bank have dropped 2% each. SBI, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Wipro have also declined.
Meanwhile, Jaiprakash Associates has gained 2.5% at Rs 178. DLF and Ranbaxy have advanced 2% each to Rs 362 and Rs 222, respectively.
