Sensex down 88pts; SBI, HDFC Bank firm

The Sensex is now down 88 points at 20,739.

SBI and HDFC Bank have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 2,501 and Rs 1,806, respectively.

Reliance and Reliance Communications have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 3,178 and Rs 806, respectively.

BHEL and DLF have gained 1.3% each at Rs 2,468 and Rs 1,212, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Wipro have plunged 3.7% each to Rs 929 and Rs 468, respectively.

Infosys has dropped 2.7% to Rs 1,537. ACC and Hindustan Unilever have shed 2.5% each to Rs 875 and Rs 219, respectively.

TCS, HDFC and Ambuja Cements have slipped 2.3% each to Rs 966, Rs 2,988 and Rs 136, respectively.

Maruti has declined nearly 2% to Rs 882.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,771 stocks traded so far, 1,557 have advanced, 1,184 have declined and 30 are unchanged.
