Sensex down 95pts; HDFC drops 5%

The Sensex is now down 95 points at 17,432.

The NSE Nifty is down 27 points at 5,106.

HDFC has plunged 4.7% to Rs 2,789. DLF has tumbled over 4% to Rs 810.

Larsen & Toubro has dropped over 3% to Rs 3,515. Bajaj Auto and ICICI Bank have slipped 2.3% each to Rs 2,225 and Rs 1,080, respectively.

Reliance Energy has dropped over 2% to Rs 1,945. Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank and NTPC have shed 1.8% each at Rs 646, Rs 1,465 and Rs 203, respectively.

Tata Steel and Hindalco are down 1.6% each at Rs 758 and Rs 161, respectively.

Infosys has zoomed 5.3% to Rs 1,560. Satyam has surged 4.8% to Rs 410. TCS has rallied 4% to Rs 919, and Wipro has gained 1.8% at Rs 417.

ITC has moved up 2% to Rs 196. Bharti Airtel has advanced 1.7% to Rs 877, and Ranbaxy has added 1% to Rs 378.

The market breadth is significantly negative - out of 2,655 stocks traded so far, 2,139 have declined, 481 have advanced and 35 are unchanged.
