Sensex down 96pts; Dabur rallies 4%

The Sensex touched a high of 11,803, and is now down 96 points at 11,739. The index had slumped to a low of 11,345 - down 490 points in early trades following Sebi's order on the IPO scam.

ACC has surged 2.5% to Rs 957. NTPC has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 132, and HLL has gained 1.3% at Rs 291.

Cipla has plunged 4% to Rs 250. Hindalco has dropped 3% to Rs 211, and Tata Steel is down nearly 2% at Rs 628.

HDFC Bank has declined 2% to Rs 807. TCS and Satyam are down 1.6% each at Rs 1,920 and Rs 755, respectively.

ONGC, Tata Motors and Tata Power are the other major losers.

Out of 2,073 stocks traded so far, 1,314 have declined, 710 have advanced and 49 are unchanged.

Dabur has rallied over 4% to Rs 146. Tata Elxsi, BEML, ACC, MphasiS BFL, Hinduja TMT, Bharat Electronics, Aventis Pharma and Siemens are the other major gainers.

RCF has plunged 5.5% to Rs 54. Moser Baer, National Fertilisers, HMT, Mastek, Polaris, Nestle, JSW Steel and SAIL are the other major losers.
