Sensex down around 100pts; ICICI Bank, HDFC weak

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 200 points at 8,901, and soon touched a low of 8,887. The index, thereafter, recovered partially and touched a high of 9,051. The index is now down 109 points at 8,991.

ICICI Bank has slumped 3.7% to Rs 382, and HDFC has shed 3.3% at Rs 1,434.

Wipro has tumbled 2.6% to Rs 222. Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have plunged around 2% each to Rs 602 and Rs 294, respectively.

DLF and HDFC Bank have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 186 and Rs 896, respectively.

Tata Power, NTPC and Grasim are down around 1.5% each at Rs 758, Rs 183 and Rs 1,197, respectively.

 

Hindustan Unilever and Jaiprakash Associates have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 251 and Rs 67, respectively.

ONGC has advanced over 1% to Rs 671.
