Sensex down nearly 300pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex is now down 284 points at 14,378.

Reliance Infrastructure has slumped nearly 4% to Rs 995. DLF has plunged 3.6% to Rs 484.

Reliance and ONGC have tumbled over 3% each to Rs 2,017 and Rs 1,044, respectively.

HDFC and Tata Power have shed 2.7% each at Rs 2,256 and Rs 1,021, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has dropped 2.3% to Rs 793. ICICI Bank has slipped 2% to Rs 686.

Jaiprakash Associates, BHEL and Hindustan Unilever have declined 1.8% each to Rs 165, Rs 1,680 and Rs 246, respectively.

Tata Motors and Ranbaxy are up over 1% each at Rs 423 and Rs 463, respectively.

 

The market breadth was fairly negative - out of 2,328 stocks traded so far, 1,523 have declined, 722 have advanced and 83 are unchanged.
