Sensex down nearly 300pts; ICICI Bank sheds 4%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 170 points at 9,160, since then has extended losses and is now down 284 points at 9,045.

Bharti Airtel has slumped 5% to Rs 614, and Reliance Communications has plunged 4.7% to Rs 176.

ICICI Bank has shed 4.3% at Rs 395. Sterlite and HDFC have dropped 3.7% each to Rs 261 and Rs 1,489, respectively.

HDFC Bank has declined 3.3% to Rs 909. Reliance, Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra and DLF have slipped over 3% each to Rs 1,191, Rs 561, Rs 300 and Rs 189, respectively.

ONGC, Tata Steel, Reliance Infrastructure, SBI and Larsen & Toubro are down nearly 3% each.
