Sensex down nearly 500pts; Ranbaxy gains 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 109 points at 4,324.

ICICI Bank has slumped 9% to Rs 661. HDFC Bank has tumbled 7.7% to Rs 1,121, and HDFC Bank has plunged 7.3% to Rs 2,183.

Reliance has dropped 7% to Rs 2,144. Jaiprakash Assocaites and Reliance Infrastructure have shed 4% each at Rs 164 and Rs 986, respectively.

Tata Motors has slipped 3.3% to Rs 425. ONGC, DLF and Ambuja Cements have declined 3% each to Rs 997, Rs 492 and Rs 81, respectively.

Grasim, SBI and Larsen & Toubro are down 2.7% each at Rs 1,780, Rs 1,439 and Rs 2,641, respectively.

 

Maruti and Tata Steel have dropped 2% each to Rs 606 and Rs 618, respectively.

Ranbaxy has surged 3.8% to Rs 485. Hindustan Unilever has advanced 1.5% to Rs 231.

Bharti Airtel and Satyam are up 1% each at Rs 807 and Rs 374, respectively.

Out of 2,442 stocks traded so far, 1,449 have declined, 915 have advanced and 78 are unchanged.
