Sensex down nearly 600pts; Rel Infra drops 7%

The Sensex is now down 578 points at 13,770.

The NSE Nifty is down 158 points at 4,174.

HDFC Bank has slumped 8.8% to Rs 1,028. ICICI Bank has tumbled over 8% to Rs 609. HDFC has shed 7% at Rs 2,067, and SBI has dropped 6.5% to Rs 1,327.

Reliance Infrastructure has tumbled 7% to Rs 917. Maruti and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped 6.5% each to Rs 571 and Rs 495, respectively.

DLF has declined 5.7% to Rs 471. Jaiprakash Associates and Larsen & Toubro have declined 6.3% each to Rs 153 and Rs 2,578, respectively.

Tata Motors, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have slipped 4.7% each to Rs 406, Rs 488 and Rs 139, respectively.

 

ACC and NTPC are down over 4% each at Rs 568 and Rs 177, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,545 stocks traded so far, 1,673 have declined, 800 have advanced and 72 are unchanged.
