Sensex down over 100pts; Sterlite, DLF shed 11%

The Sensex is now down 137 points at 9,450. The index had opened 153 points lower at 9,434, thereafter, rebounded and touched a high of 9,630 - up 278 points from the early morning low.

The index, however, could not hold gains and slipped back into the negative zone to a low of 9,251 - down 379 points from the day's high.

Satyam has recovered partially from its day's low of Rs 11.50, but is still down a whopping 45% at Rs 22.

Sterlite and DLF have plunged nearly 11% each to Rs 269 and Rs 210, respectively.

Reliance Communications has tumbled nearly 10% to Rs 186, and Reliance Infrastructure has slumped almost 9% to Rs 510.

 

Larsen & Toubro and Ranbaxy have shed 8% each at Rs 713 and Rs 217, respectively.

Tata Steel has dropped 7.5% to Rs 216, and Tata Power has declined 6.3% to Rs 745.

TCS has soared 6.5% to Rs 536. Hindustan Unilever has surged 4.3% to Rs 262.

Infosys and Maruti have rallied 3.3% each to Rs 1,227 and Rs 584, respectively.

Wipro and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 2.8% each at Rs 250 and Rs 309, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 2,436 stocks traded so far, 1,880 have declined, 492 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
