The Sensex is now down 208 points at 8,747.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged over 5% each to Rs 304 and Rs 483, respectively.
ACC, TCS and Sterlite have slumped around 4.5% each to Rs 534, Rs 460 and Rs 242, respectively.
Wipro and Maruti have dropped 4.3% each to Rs 207 and Rs 606, respectively.
ONGC and ICICI Bank have shed 4% each at Rs 686 and Rs 312, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel are down 3.5% each at Rs 153 and Rs 629, respectively.
HDFC, however, has surged 2.5% to Rs 1,242.
