The Sensex is quoting at 16538, lower by 337 points and the Nifty is at 4960, down 106 points.

The markets continue to reel under the global pressure. The Asian markets all ended in red, and the European markets too are currently in negative territory, albiet off the day's low.
The Sensex has touched a low of 16,628, and is now down 227 points at 16,649. The NSE Nifty has shed 73 points at 4,993.
Sterlite and Tata Motors have plunged 4% each to Rs 660 and Rs 741, respectively. ICICI Bank has shed 3.6% at Rs 857.
Jaiprkash Associates, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have dropped around 2.5% each to Rs 124, Rs 261 and Rs 142, respectively.
DLF, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever are also down around 2% each.
TCS, ONGC, Wipro, HDFC Bank and SBI are the other prominent losers.
Infosys and Hero Honda are the notable gainers at Rs 2,643 and Rs 1,853, respectively. Cipla, Maruti and Reliance Infrastructure are the only other gainers among the Sensex stocks.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,789 stocks traded so far, 1,703 have declined, and 1,009 have advanced on the BSE.
