Mirroring weak trend in global markets, the Sensex opened with a negative gap of 330 points at 14,569. The index is now down 324 points at 14,575.
All index stocks are in negative zone.
Sterlite has plunged 3.6% to Rs 591.
Jaiprakash Associates, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have tumbled 3.3% each to Rs 171, Rs 695 and Rs 1,262, respectively.
Infosys has dropped 3% to Rs 1,736. Reliance, Reliance Infrastructure, HDFC and SBI have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 2,095, Rs 991, Rs 2,362 and Rs 1,498, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, DLF, Wipro, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors and Tata Power are down around 2% each.
