Sensex down over 300pts; Hindalco slumps 8%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 251 points at 10,284, and touched a low of 10,172 in early trades. The index is displaying lacklustre movement and is now down 330 points at 10,205.

Hindalco has slumped 8% to Rs 55. Reliance Communications and HDFC have tumbled around 6% each to Rs 205 and Rs 1,002, respectively.

ONGC and Jaiprakash Associates have shed 5.3% each at Rs 838 and Rs 92, respectively. DLF has also plunged over 5% to Rs 199.

Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped nearly 5% each to Rs 627, Rs 356 and Rs 583, respectively.

 

SBI and Sterlite have slipped 4.7% each to Rs 1,076 and Rs 368, respectively.

HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel have declined over 4% each to Rs 1,627, Rs 446 and Rs 226, respectively.

BHEL, Tata Power, Reliance and Larsen & Toubro are down around 3% each.

Sun Pharma however has bucked the trend and is up over 1% at Rs 1,082.
