Sensex drops 115pts; Hinduja TMT zooms 12%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 34 points at 12,401. The index soon plunged to a low of 12,224 - down 211 points from its previous close.

The index has again slipped deeper into red and is now down 115 points at 12,320.

Gujarat Ambuja has slumped nearly 6% to Rs 108. ACC has plunged over 5% to Rs 916, and Grasim has dropped 3.5% to Rs 2,225.

ICICI Bank has declined nearly 3% to Rs 641. SBI has shed 1.5% to Rs 962, and HDFC is down over 1% at Rs 1,373.

Reliance has plunged 2.5% to Rs 1,081. ONGC is down 1% at Rs 1,443.

Tata Steel has surged 2% to Rs 651, and Hindalco has gained over 1% at Rs 246.

Tata Motors has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 972. Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto are up nearly 1% each at Rs 879 and Rs 3,175, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has moved up 1.6% to Rs 2,820. NTPC has added 1.3% to Rs 131.

Out of 2,525 stocks traded so far, 1,278 have declined, 1,196 have advanced and 51 are unchanged.

Hinduja TMT has zoomed 12% to Rs 806. Adani Exports, Wockhardt, Jindal Steel, GMDC, Hexaware, Nestle and Dabur are the other major gainers.

Alok Industries has plunged 6.6% to Rs 87.70. India Cement, Andhra Bank, Jaiprakash Associates, BPCL and RCF are the other significant losers.
