Sensex drops 172pts

Mirroring the weak global market trend the Sensex opened with a significant negative gap of 83 points at 13,691. The index thereafter languished in the negative zone throughout the day as market players opted to book profits.

Continued selling in the market saw the index tumble to a low of 13,577. The Sensex finally settled with a significant loss of 172 points at 13,602.
