Sensex drops 172pts; Tata Motors tumbles 3%

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red and is now down 172 points at 13,689.

Tata Motors has shed 2.7% to Rs 908. Hindalco has dropped 2.4% to Rs 167.

Sayam, ACC and Wipro have slipped around 2% each to Rs 491, Rs 1,035 and Rs 588, respectively.

Maruti, Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto and TCS are down around 1.5% each to Rs 920, Rs 440, Rs 627, Rs 2,744 and Rs 1,245, respectively.
