Sensex drops 221pts; Infosys slips 2%

The Sensex is now down 221 points at 10,133.

Reliance Communications, Wipro and Hindalco have plunged over 4% each to Rs 239, Rs 450 and Rs 158, respectively.

Grasim and Gujarart Ambuja have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 1,910 and Rs 100, respectively.

Maruti has slipped 3% to Rs 714. Tata Motors and HDFC Bank have shed 2.5% each to Rs 670 and Rs 709, respectively.

Infosys and Tata Steel are down over 2% each at Rs 1,609 and Rs 476, respectively.

Satyam has spurted 1.7% to Rs 700. Cipla, BHEL and Ranbaxy have gained over 1% each at Rs 221, Rs 1,838 and Rs 354, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely bearish - out of 2,201 stocks traded so far, 1,669 have declined, 470 have advanced and 62 are unchanged.
