Sensex drops 39 pts

The market, which was on a recovery path, has lost ground in current trades owing to sustained selling in heavyweights and other old economy counters.

While the Sensex has dropped 39 points to 6,869, the Nifty has declined eight points to 2,159.

ONGC has lost 1.38% (Rs 13) to Rs 918, and Reliance has slipped a per cent (Rs 4) to Rs 590. ITC continues to witness selling pressure, and the counter has slumped 2.38% (Rs 33) to Rs 1,347. HLL is down a tad at Rs 144.

SBI and HDFC Bank are down a per cent each at Rs 738 (down Rs 4) and Rs 610 (down Rs 5), respectively. ICICI Bank is up a rupee at Rs 393.

Infosys is trading at weaker levels at Rs 2,222 - down Rs 10. Wipro is down Rs 2 at Rs 702.

Bajaj has moved up 1.26% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,114, and Hero Honda is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 559. While Tata Motors has eased to Rs 462 (down Rs 5), Maruti is down a rupee at Rs 461.

HDFC (down Rs 13 or 1.55% to Rs 807), BHEL (down Rs 13 or 1.61% to Rs 820) and Zee (down Rs 2 to Rs 139) continue to trade at lower levels.

L&T has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 6) to Rs 1,095, while Tisco has added 1.61% (Rs 7) to Rs 438.
