Sensex drops 73pts; HDFC Bank plunges 5%

The Sensex has dropped 73 points to 11,957.

ONGC has gained 1.6% at Rs 1,361. Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel are up nearly 1% each at Rs 2,732 and Rs 661, respectively.

HDFC Bank has slumped 4.7% to Rs 810. ICICI Bank has slipped 2.2% to Rs 577. SBI is down over 1% at Rs 910.

Wipro has plunged 3.6% to Rs 529. Satyam has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 785. Infosys has slipped 1.7% to Rs 3,253, and TCS is down 1% at Rs 1,973.

Tata Motors, Tata Power, NTPC and Bajaj Auto have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 963, Rs 571, Rs 134 and Rs 2,923, respectively.

The market breadth continues to remain positive. Out of 2,461 stocks traded so far, 1,411 have advanced, 983 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
