Sensex drops 91 pts; ONGC, SBI slide further

Stocks continue to get hammered as selling pressure has intensified in the mid-noon trades. The Sensex, which tumbled to a low of 6,406, has shed 91 points to 6,420. The Nifty has lost 27 points to 2,002.

ONGC has tumbled 2.69% (Rs 23) to Rs 834. While Reliance has shed 1.56% (Rs 9) to Rs 558, ITC has declined 2.19% (Rs 29) to Rs 1,286. HLL is down a rupee at Rs 134.

SBI has plunged 2.39% (Rs 16) to Rs 650. While ICICI Bank has dipped 1.42% (Rs 6) to Rs 392, HDFC Bank is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 531.

Infosys is trading off-lows at Rs 2,161 - down Rs 30 or 1.35%. Wipro and Satyam are trading with marginal losses at Rs 642 and Rs 398, respectively.

Hero Honda at Rs 534 (down Rs 7 or 1.38%), Maruti at Rs 416 (down Rs 5 or 1.19%) and Tata Motors (down Rs 4 to Rs 413) are exhibiting weak trends.

Dr. Reddy's (down Rs 12 to Rs 760), Ranbaxy (down Rs 4 to Rs 1,068) and Cipla (down Rs 4 to Rs 254) are displaying a subdued trend.

HDFC has lost 2% (Rs 14) to Rs 695, and L&T is trading 1.48% lower (Rs 15) at Rs 995. While Tata Power has dipped 2.33% (Rs 8) to Rs 343, Tisco is down 2.23% (Rs 9) at Rs 409.
