The Sensex finally ended (provisional) at 17,234, up 207

The Sensex is firm at 17,223, up 196 points.
The NSE Nifty is at 5,110, up 55 points.
Mahindra & Mahindra soared 6% to Rs 915. Sterlite and Tata Motors advanced around 5% each to Rs 851 and Rs 576, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel, SBI, Hindalco, BHEL, Tata Power and NTPC are up 2-4% each.
Reliance Communications has shed 5% to Rs 236. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Infrastructure shed over 3% each to Rs 339 and Rs 1,322, respectively.
The market breadth was positive, out of 2,762 shares traded, 1,634 advanced and 1,048 declined on the BSE so far.
The BSE metal index surged 4% to 15,363, respectively. Auto, power, realty and bankex indices are moving strong.
