Sensex ends at 13,846, down 13pts

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 34 points at 13,893. Fresh buying in the opening trades saw the index rally to a high of 13,960 - up 101 points from the previous close.

Profit taking at higher levels saw the index pare gains and slip into negative zone. The index rebounded and thereafter displayed lacklustre movement for most of the trading day.

The index slipped to a low of 13,820, before settling at 13,846, down 13 points.
