Sensex ends at 9296, down 461pts

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 92 points at 9665. Sustained selling in the market saw the index tumble to a low of 9201 - down 556 ponits from its previous close.

The index finally ended with a loss of 4.7% (461 points) at 9296.

Out of a total of 2,403 stocks traded so far, 2,197 have declined, 173 have advanced and 33 are unchanged.
