Sensex ends at 9545, up 616pts

The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 204 points at 9133. After touching a low of 9092, the index displayed range-bound movement for a major part of the trading day.

Buying gained momentum in the late noon deals following which which the index zoomed to a high of 9589. The Sensex finally settled with a mammoth gain of 6.9% (616 points) at 9545.

Thus, the index today recorded its biggest-ever single day gain in history, beating its recent record of 515 points set on June 9.
