Sensex ends at 9811, up 515pts

The Sensex opened 25 points lower at 9271. The index touched a low of 9262, and soon rebounded into the positive zone.

Unabated buying in the market saw the index zoom to a high of 9849. The index finally settled at 9811 - up 515 points - to record its biggest ever single-day gain in history.
