Sensex ends at all-time high of 8,526

After opening on a steady note, the Sensex hit an all-time high of 8,587 in early morning deals. After dipping to a low of 8,445 - a drop of 142 points from the intra-day high - buying in the noon session saw the Sensex close with a gain of 47 points (0.55) at a new all-time closing high of 8,526.

HLL advanced 2.6% (Rs 4) to Rs 181. ONGC moved up over 2% (Rs 21) at Rs 1,041. While Reliance gained Rs 7 to Rs 788, SBI added 1.5% (Rs 13) to Rs 928.

Infosys dropped Rs 8 to Rs 2,476, and TCS was down Rs 5 at Rs 1,462.

Tata Motors zoomed 4.7% (Rs 24) to Rs 545. Bajaj moved up 1.7% (Rs 28) to Rs 1,656. Maruti was down over 2% (Rs 14) at Rs 559.

HDFC was firm right through the session, and closed with a gain of Rs 12 at Rs 1,001. ICICI Bank added Rs 12 to Rs 588.

BHEL declined Rs 11 to Rs 1,134. Bharti was down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 346. Hero Honda, Hindalco and NTPC also declined.
