Sensex ends down 141pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 15,900, down 141 points. The NSE Nifty has ended (provisonal) at 4,755, down 35 points.

The Sensex has slipped further into the red and is now at 15,925, down 117 points. The Nifty is at 4,760, down 32 points.

Markets have started slipping once again on an increased selling pressure in oil and power stocks. The Sensex is now down 80 points at 15,963.

The Nifty is down 24 points at 4,769.

The BSE realty index has manged to hold on to gains and is now up 2% at 3,353. However, the oil & gas, power and bankex have dropped nearly 1% each.

 

Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 1.6% to Rs 974. Sun Pharma has dropped 1.6% to Rs 1,517.

SBI has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,921. Tata Power, Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and NTPC have dropped 1% each.

Meanwhile, Hindalco has held on to gains and is now up 2.6% at Rs 138. Sterlite has jumped 1.4% to Rs 768.

HDFC Bank has gained 1.8% at Rs 1,600. Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure has also moved up.

The BSE market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,829 stocks traded, 57% have advanced while 39% have declined.
