The index recovered smartly in late noon deals and finally ended
(provisional) with a loss of 142 points at 14,924.
The market breadth was negative - out of 2,692 stocks traded, 1,653 declined, 962 advanced and 77 were unchanged.
The NSE Nifty ended (provisional) with a loss of 40 points at 4,461.
