The Sensex opened with a significant positive gap of 292 points at 20,130 on the back of 25 basis points rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The index soon touched a high of 20,204 in the opening trades. However, profit-taking at higher levels saw the index pare gains and slip into negative zone. The index, thereafter, displayed volatile movement for the rest of the trading day. A fresh round of selling in late trades saw the index drop to a low of 19,644 - down 560 points from the day's high. The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a loss of 152 points at 19,686. |
