The Sensex opened with a significant positive gap of 189 points at 19,317 on the back of positive cues from the US markets. However, the index could not move further higher and the index soon pared early gains. The index, thereafter, moved in a narrow range of 50 odd points - from 19,200 to 19,250 for a major part of the trading day. Fresh selling towards the end saw the index slip into red, and slide to a low of 18,886 - down 431 points from the day's open. The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a loss of 219 points at 18,909. |
