Sensex ends down 260pts at 14,041

The Sensex today opened up 71 points at 14,231. The index soon slipped into red but however managed to recover and touch a high of 14,405 in late morning trades.

Following which, the index pared gains and slipped back into the negative zone. Constant selling in banking and oil & gas stocks dragged the index to a low of 13,976 - down 429 points from the day's high.

The Sensex finally ended (provisional) 260 points lower at 14,041.
