The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 105 points at 14,557. Weakness in the global stock markets along with depreciating rupee, which dipped to nearly two-year low of 45.41/45.45 against the US dollar, mainly dampened the trading sentiments today.
The Sensex, had lost over 280 points in the past two sessions. The index moved in a range of 292 points between 14,265 (low) and 14,557 (high) before finally settling with a loss of 335 points at 14,328 (provisional) .
The market breadth was negative - out of 2,713 stocks traded, 1,769 declined, 868 advanced and 76 were unchanged today.
The NSE Nifty dropped 110 points to settle at 4290(provisional) .
