Sensex ends down 340pts at 19,293

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 122 points at 19,511 on the back of weak global cues. Fresh buying at lower levels saw the index rebound into the positive zone and touch a high of 19,714.

The index, however, could not hold gains and came tumbling down to 19,196 - down 518 points from the day's high - in late noon trades. The Sensex finally ended (provisional) with a loss of 340 points at 19,293.
