Mirroring weakness in the Asian markets, on fears of a possible rate hike in China, the Sensex opened with a negative gap of 133 points at 13,539, and soon tumbled to a low of 13,424 - down 248 points from the previous close. However, fresh buying in banking and select heavyweights helped the index recoup losses as the day progressed. The Sensex finally ended with a nominal loss of 52 points at 13,620. In a way the index recovered 196 points from the day's low at close. |
